A Collaborative Reintegration Effort Helping Women in the Democratic Republic of the Congo

We are thrilled to announce our partnership with Dr. Lucien Wasingya Kasereka and the Fistula Program DRC to support women who have undergone fistula repair surgery in Butembo and Kinshasa. This collaboration focuses on a comprehensive reintegration package designed to empower these women and help them reclaim their lives.

Understanding Obstetric Fistula

Obstetric fistula is a severe childbirth injury resulting from prolonged or obstructed labour without timely medical intervention. Women suffering from this condition often experience incontinence and face significant social stigma. The Fistula Program DRC, a Congolese non-profit organisation, provides free surgery to repair obstetric fistulas, restoring dignity and hope to these women.

Holistic Support for Lasting Change

Our joint reintegration initiative aims to provide holistic support to women who have undergone fistula repair. Recognising that recovery goes beyond physical healing, the programme emphasises peer support, health education, community engagement and skills training.

A Collaborative Approach

Through this partnership, we aim to create a supportive environment where women can heal, grow, and thrive. By working together, helping women to overcome challenges and lead fulfilling lives.

Together, we can create a brighter future for women in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
